Australia had two more track cycling stars emerge in 2005 as Katherine Bates delivered on the promise she's shown for a couple of seasons and Katie Mactier finally landed a world championship in the pursuit. The duo from down under topped the poll, with Bates just taking the title, after a year in which she won World Cup races in both pursuit and the points race.

Russia's Olga Slyussareva was third.
