German Judith Arndt
has been one of the most consistent female road cyclists over the past few years
winning race after race with her allround capabilites of both time trialing
and climbing making her both a good one day rider and tour rider. This year
she finally realised her dream and won her first world title on the road, coming
back after an extra-ordinary performance in the Olympic road race that earned
her a silver medal. She is well known in the women's peloton as one of the best
female riders to date and is respected as an excellent tactician and team player.
Aside from her riding this year Arndt earned herself a name as one of the more
expressive riders in the field and took out this years Cyclingnews reader
poll by a convincing gap to Welsh hero Nicole
Cooke. Coming in third was Australia's Oenone
Wood who had a brilliant year to take our the Women's
World Cup Series.
