CATS CC
Nerang, March 16, 2003
Today 18 year old Brad Payne overcame more senior and experienced riders in a
display of maturity and control that belies his youth. Hot on Brad's heels, in
fourth place was 17 year old Ben Mockridge. Brad and Ben, two of the new generation
of young cyclists coming through the ranks in the CATS Club were part of the CATS
Club Team which contested the recent Track Grand Prix Series of 6 Carnivals. The
team which comprised mostly CATS Under 19 age group cyclists completed the series
in second place after consistently defeating other more fancied teams of more
seasoned riders. Club President Jim Burke says this is just the beginning of a
new era in cycling which will see more and more Australian Cyclists in the International
Professional Pelotons.
