More on Cipo's E5
Further to our news last week about Cipo's new Specialized frame, Kevin Franks from Specialized dropped us a line to tell us a bit more.
"First, Mario is a perfectionist when it comes to his bike, equipment and the setup of his kit. He has developed a specific formula that he is comfortable with, and he has not deviated from in a long time... if it ain't broke, don't fix it!
So his bike is a little different from the rest of the squads. The difference between his S-Works E5 and the others is custom geometry - although same E5 tubeset and same everything else as per the rest of the team bikes. In fact, we developed 22 different framesets for him here in Morgan Hill to ensure that we got it just right. It's worth noting that the rest of the squad rides bone stock bikes - the same bikes that consumers can buy in their local bike shop."
Ofoto-Lombardi on Rolf
The San Francisco based Ofoto-Lombardi Sports professional cycling team has hooked up with Rolf and will race exclusively on Rolf Prima wheels this season. Ofoto-Lombardi Sports' team director John Durso is reportedly very happy with the deal.
The UCI division III team will focus on the US road-racing scene, with specific emphasis on the US Pro Cycling Tour, the National Racing Calendar events and the UCI-sanctioned Tour de Georgia.

Frishy on Fox and Scott
The Swisspower Mountain Bike Team will race on Fox equipped Scott bikes this season. The team will participate at all UCI World Cup races and is led by former World Champion and multiple World Cup winner Thomas Frischknecht.
The deal will see the team race on Scott Strike full suspension bikes featuring Float RL rear shocks with remote lock-out options for both front and rear shocks, and the new 2003 F80RLT Forx up front.

Trek and Andrew Shandro ride free
Four times Canadian National downhill Champion Andrew Shandro has signed to Trek to promote Trek's freeride and downhill bicycle range. Shandro, who has also won two downhill World Cup rounds, is better known for his involvement in freeride movies such as Kranked 1, 2 and 3, the North Shore Extreme movies and Ride to the Hills.
Trek is looking at developing better freeride specific products through its deal with Shandro, as well as hoping to promote Trek's two freeride bikes, the new 4 to 5 inch adjustable suspension Liquid and the long travel Diesel.
What's in a name?
A word of advice to companies out there: always keep up with the paperwork. Syncros, the once grand manufacturer of bike components, was recently the in the middle of a struggle between new owners Pacific Cycles and UK bike store Super Cycles. Well at least the name was.

When Pacific took control of Syncros, at that stage a housebrand for GT, they pretty much put the company on the backburner. After all, the main emphasis was on resurrecting the Schwinn and GT names as soon as possible. But someone forgot to keep an eye on the paperwork and the Syncros trademark ran out.

It didn't take long for Super Cycles to stumble onto Pacific's omission, first re-registering the name, then beginning work on a Syncros trials crank. Pacific didn't too take long either to stumble into negotiations with Super Cycles.
In a press release, Pacific stated, "Super Cycles and Pacific Cycles have announced that their dispute over the Syncros registered trade mark has reached an amicable conclusion. Super Cycles has agreed to transfer the mark to Pacific for an undisclosed sum. This paves the way for Pacific to continue their planned re-introduction of the brand in 2003 with no further complications."
