However we still boasted an International field including Bankgiroloterij rider Jan Koerts, Nick Gates and Jason Phillips as well as many of the usual suspects. No prize money was paid today and the takings will be donated to the Darren Smith Ride. The A Grade race was a great challenge and excellent experience for many of our younger riders as they got an opportunity to observe what the Pros are capable of. In the end, Jan Koerts won easily from a strong finishing Greg Pooley followed by Jason Phillips with Mexican visitor Manuel Serrano in 4th. The D Grade field, which included Vanuatu visitor Lionel Thomas, was dominated by the women who took out the top two placings. First male finisher was newcomer Mark Francis. Glen Baumann edged out Werner Rogosenski in C Grade while the Vet 5s and 6s dominated the B Grade finish easily won by Mark Teakle who is showing the clear benefits of his "secret training".
