Reigning US National champion and 2001 world champ Alison Dunlap was a solid winner in this category with over a quarter of the votes, ahead of multiple world downhill champ Anne-Caroline Chausson and current rainbow jersey Gunn-Rita Dahle.
Chausson was the only downhiller to figure prominently in the mountain bike section of the poll in clear recognition of her dominaiton in both traditional and four-cross/dual disciplines, and the vote as a whole was far more evenly spread than the men's category.
