This category saw one of the closest votes in the whole poll with two votes separating the top three, which is just about as close as you can get! Multi-talented Canadian Lyne Bessette edged out former world champion Hanka Kupfernagel and 2001 US champion Alison Dunlap.

However, this was a category with relatively few votes in total, reflecting the low profile of women's 'cross. No doubt the 'cross fans out there will carry on working on that.
