BJ and Godfrey escape
Long recognised as one of the toughest one day classics nationally the Midlands
Tour was run under clear skies Saturday.
AIS riders Bruce "BJ" McIntosh and Lee Godfrey forged ahead as the toughest
climbing began around Blackwood. They won comfortably from a large finishing
bunch for a "Middies" of a dozen riders. James Taylor outsprinted Jonathan Davies,
Andrew Torney and the rest for 3rd place. A delighted "BJ" in his acceptance
speech expressed the desire that the event profile grow bigger and better.
