Women's 500m time trial 50+: World Best Time For Roach

Terry Roach sped round the Manchester Velodrome to win the 500m at the 8th World Masters Track Championships in a world masters best time age category fifty plus.

Roach, from the USA, covered the two laps in 41.092 to lower the figures set last year by Janet Moss of South Africa, by 0.222sec.

Charlotte Miller who celebrates her fiftieth birthday in November, set the standard early in the competition with a ride of 42.214sec and led until the final ride when Roach went just 0.122sec faster, so Miller from Houston had to settle for silver.

Valerie Rushworth champion from 1997-99 and in 2000 put up a spirited effort to collect the bronze medal. The Wakefield rider produced a time of 42.295sec missing the silver medal by just 0.081sec.

Women's 500m time trial 45-49: Francis turns silver into gold

Glynis Francis has won the 500m Time Trial event in the 45-49 age category. Runner-up twelve months ago Francis, from Manchester went one better this time around with a ride of 40.135sec to finish 0.444 ahead of DeeDee Scadron the American who also moves up once place.

Another visitor from the USA Ann Marie Love collected the bronze medal when recorded a time of 42.025.

Women's 500m time trial 40-45: Hanson wins another

Annette Hanson produced an impressive ride to win the 40-45 age group 500m.

Hanson from America covered the two laps in 38.933sec to lower the figure established back in 1999 by another visitor from the USA Cynthia Goodman, by 0.424sec.

The champion also finished some two and a half seconds ahead of the silver medal winner Karen Byrne of Great Britain, who moved up from her third position of twelve months ago.

Bronze went to the 2001 sprint champion Isabel Leon Moncada of Mexico who recorded a tome of 41.665sec

Women's 500m time trial 35-39: Tignor wins again

Suzie Tignor made a successful defence of her 500m Time Trial for the age category thirty-five to thirty-nine at the 8th World Masters Track Championships which are being held at the Manchester Velodrome all this week,

Tignor from the USA, covered the two lengths in 38.225sec to win by 0.71 from Britain's Emily Forde with another rider from the host nation Sally Boyden collecting the bronze with a time of 40.307sec.

Women's 500m time trial 30-34: Hunter traps title

Ellen Hunter won the 500m time trial for the age category thirty to thirty-five at the 8th World Masters Track Championships which are being held at the Manchester Velodrome

Hunter from Hyde in Cheshire, led a clean sweep for the host nation riders. Her time of 38.648sec placed her 1.132sec ahead of the silver medallist Newcastle's Kay Brass.

For the second year running Suzanne Longstaff of Stoke-on-Trent, collected the bronze medal, recording 40.823sec.
