Ben Price looking strong

Ulverstone cyclist Ben Price is emerging as a dark horse for something bigger come Christmas time if his early season form is ay indication. Price, a former top junior has returned to the bike after a three year hiatus, where he has played football and spent time boxing.

Son of former Australian champion and Austral Wheel winner, Craig Price, Ben has shown plenty of grit in Mersey Valley - Devonport Cycling Club events, both on the track and road in the past week. On Tuesday night, Price won the 3000 m Open Handicap and a night later claimed B Grade honours in a 22 km road race at Forth. On both occasions, he was up against the likes of Nathan Clarke, Gareth Atkins and Darren Young, along with other handy riders in Daniel Cutting and Stephen Pearce. Price also rode third in the Senior 10-lap Scratch behind Atkins and Clarke.

Junior results were spread evenly, although Brendan Stewart is shaping as a promising rider, winning two of the three Under 13 races on offer.
