Friday Night Winter Track Racing #1

Friday Night Winter Track Racing kicked off this week with 47 riders spread over 4 grades. The feedback from the riders was very positive and everyone seemed psyched for some hot action over the winter series. It is likely that a 5th division will be added next week as rider numbers are expected to increase.

Some riders have already shown superiority in their divisions, notably Shaun Hopkins who finished the night with a poker hand of two pair - Two 1st’s and two 2nd’s. However, Shaun demonstrated immense grace by allowing Fitzpatrick to win the group H’cap unchallenged after Fitzpatrick led Shaun for the final 3 laps.

Division Two saw Adrian Hobbs win the H’cap and then volunteer to ride in Division 1 where he placed third in the Snowball race.

Classy U/15’s rider, Dale Scarfe, spun his restricted-gearing to victory in the Snowball race. He accumulated 40 points along the way to beat another young rider, Geoff Hopkins, who came second on 9 points.

Crowd favorite, Keely McNamara, dominated the women’s division. She showed an impressive ride from scratch in the H’cap. Keely started alone and finally caught the leaders with only 100m remaining, just missing the victory by a whisker.
