Friday Night Track Racing is Back
Friday night night track racing returned to the Unanderra Velodrome when Caesars Illawarra Cycle Club held the first race evening for the 2003/04 season.
Although the first night was attended by only ten riders, including World Masters track silver medalist Grant Law, the weekly racing should grow in numbers rapidly once the word gets around.
A mixed programme of racing was designed to cater to the youngest (Scott and Jackson Law), the fastest and the majority who were there to have some fun. The evening is regarded as a valuable means of gaining important track skills as well as extra race speed for roadies.
On the night there were some excellent rides by Dylan Forbes, Neil Midgley, Kirk Brown and Keith Bennett. Peter Jones and Grant Law showed why they are such favourites with Jones taking the pointscore, elimination and opening scratch race. Law took out the sprint race.
For those interested in Friday nght track racing, warm-up commences at 7:00pm, racing starts at 7:30. Check the website for details of mid-week track training.
