On a user-friendly course in the Forth-Wilmot region, Atkins beat a class field in the Open section, covering the 26 km race in a slick 34 minutes. Atkins, fresh from a solid track summer, beat promising youngster Kaidan Homan, while Tasmanian Institute of Sport rider, David Klyne took third. In the combined junior - veteran's category, Devonport 16-year-old Natasha Mapley continued her good form, with a sound victory ahead of Ulverstone 15-year-old Carrie Price, while Andrew Dolan had to be content with third.
