Rourke blasts off the competition

Last weekend saw the Caesars Illawarra Cycle Club hold the 2nd round of the Summer Series Time Trials.

With a bit of a wind around, conditions were not perfect for a time trial. Some riders also suffered in the heat that was built up earlier in the day. First rounds winner, Luke Dale, was not present, but Adam Rourke still put in a good effort to take out the event on the day with a time of 27m 57s. Rourke's time was 1m 22s slower than Dale`s winning time the previous week.

Several riders improved on their personal performances in Round 1 by almost one minute. Emma Ringer improved her time by 47 seconds, while Frank Soto improved his time by 39 seconds. Andy Shannon was the biggest mover and shaker, improving his ride by exactly one minute and showing that his return to competition is progressing well after a long layoff.

Next week's event is a 27km scratch race with Group 2 to provide the Marshals on the day.
