Stage 4 - Wednesday July 10: Epernay - Château-Thierry TTT, 67.5 km

By Tim Maloney, European editor

Epernay is the centre of the Champagne growing region, so the team that wins the tough, rolling TTT along the Marne River will certainly deserve the 9 bottles of fizzy pop that's part of the post-race podium fun. The first team will start at 2:15 and the last goes at 3:55. After 23.5 km along the left bank of the Marne River, the parcours climbs 122m over the next 10 km to Igny-Comblizy, a real challenge on time trial bikes. After halfway, the parcours descends back to the Marne river valley to finish in the village of Château-Thierry, site of a decisive battle in the last days of WW1. Lance and his USPS boys should be favoured, with ONCE and Credit Agricole too. Hopefully this year, Telekom can figure out that they have to ride the TTT full gas from the get-go.
