Results and Reports from AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to Cyclingnews STVCC Oatlands to RichmondNovember 2, 2003By Stephen Bray The Tasmanian Vet feature races of the second half of the year have seen the early starters keeping away from the scratch markers. This Southern Tasmanian Veteran Cycling Club event was no exception, with Rob Warren, off a handicap of 14 minutes, holding off the fast finishing husband and wife combo of Michelle and Brian Dabner. Conditions were very ordinary with a strong head/cross-wind for the first 55k's, followed by a hilly 15k with a tailwind, finishing off with a 8k headwind to the finish. This should have suited the scratchies (33 minute bunch), however, some good work by the early groups kept them at bay. The Warren/Dabner trio made a vital break with 10k's to go, splintering the chasers to comfortably finish over 30 seconds from fourth place. Mark Bowden continued his recent world championship form to take fastest time. Many thanks to chief organiser, Dale Carney, the many volunteers on the day, Cathy Bennetts for the refreshments and the Richmond Cricket Club for use of their rooms.
