Thirteen-year-old Randwick Botany Cycling Club junior rider Tom Patton made it to the podium in his second race in D-Grade at Heffron Park Maroubra on Saturday, November 1, 2003. Mixing it with older junior and senior riders, Patton rode strongly throughout the 20km event, on restricted junior gears, and was pleased to be placed third. He backed up the following day for the annual 88km MS Society - Sydney to the Gong ride. Ten Randwick Botany riders joined thousands of others for the charity event with the aim to raise funds for the MS Society. For more information about the MS Society check out http://www.msnsw.org.au/.

A contingent of Lidcombe Auburn Cycling Club members registered to race in all grades Saturday, with several being featured in the results, including Luis Trueba who placed second behind in-form Randwick Botany rider Matthew Lucas. Could the Lidcombe Auburn riders be checking out the circuit ahead of the Centenary Race Day and Dinner at Heffron Park on Saturday 15 November? With $5,000 prizemoney on offer, there was good reason for a 'reconnaissance' race.

The Junior Team Challenge over 10km paired riders with the aim to work together and finish ahead of the other teams. Nick Hall (Randwick Botany) and Matthew Fortuna (St George) proved too strong for the other teams, finishing in first place.

200 junior and senior riders have registered for the Centenary Race Day to be held at Heffron Park, Maroubra on Saturday 15 November 2003 from 10.30am. Enter online at www.nsw.cycling.org.au Men/Women/Masters $20; Juniors $10. The Celebration Dinner will be held in a giant marquee from 6.00pm at Heffron Park and includes buffet dinner, drinks, entertainment and special guests including SBS Sport Presenter Michael Tomalaris. Top Australian International, Olympian and Tour de France yellow jersey holder Bradley McGee hopes to attend. Dinner tickets are $65 (adults), $35 for under 18. For tickets to the dinner, contact Club Secretary Helen Vella on 02 9667 3307 or email secretary@randwickbotanycc.com.
