59th Coppa Ugo Agostoni - 1.1Italy, August 17, 20052004 Results Results Past winners Trittico Lombardo Tre Valli Varesine - August 16 Valoti wins round 2Domina Vacanze tasted success in the second race of the Trittico Lombardo when Paolo Valoti won a three man sprint against Leonardo Giordani (Team Universal Caffe'- Styloffice) and Stefano Cavallari (Barloworld-Valsir). The three were over half a minute clear of chasing bunch that was led home by Salvatore Commesso (Lampre). Valoti's win was his first since the 2001 Coppa Bernocchi, almost exactly four years ago. Yesterday's runner-up, Lorenzo Bernucci (Fassa Bortolo), finished eighth and moved into the overall lead of the Trittico Lombardo, sharing it with Stefano Garzelli (Liquigas-Bianchi), who won yesterday but was 40th today. The 196 km race saw a group of 12 riders get clear with 30 km to go, including Valoti, Giordani, Cavallari, Commesso, Bernucci, Visconti (Domina), Missaglia (LPR), Nocentini (Acqua e Sapone), Ferrara (Androni Giocattoli), and Baliani (Panaria). The group split 10 km from the finishing circuits in Lissone, when Valoti attacked with Giordani. The pair were caught by Cavallari and built up a lead of nearly half a minute with five kilometres to travel. Valoti proved to be too strong in the sprint and demolished Giordani and Cavallari. Tomorrow is the Coppa Bernocchi, the final race of the Trittico Lombardo. PhotographyFor a thumbnail gallery of these images, click here Images by Fotoreporter Sirotti
