But that 11 km could still produce any one of about 12 different winners. Roberts moved into yellow after running second in the 85 km Burnie to Latrobe stage and then protecting his position in a reduced 50-minute criterium later in the afternoon. Roberts will carry a slender 3-second lead into the final day's individual time trial, which will be held at the Country Club Casino Resort in Launceston on Sunday. His nearest challenger is Jayco Under 23 rider Simon Gerrans, who had worn yellow when the tour entourage left Burnie. Early tour leader Russell Van Hout (Rio Coffee) is now back to third, 13 seconds behind his teammate (Roberts) while other genuine chances include Sean Sullivan (21 seconds), David Pell (25 secs) and Jeremy Yates (32 secs). Yates was today confirmed as the winner of the Wrest Point King of the Mountain Championship, 6 points ahead of Tasmanian mountain bike hero Sid Taberlay. The afternoon criterium in Latrobe, cut back to 50 minutes from one hour was won by American Mike Tillman ahead of David Harrigan (Avanti Blackman) and David McKenzie (ITeamNova.com). Along the way Tillman also confirmed his status as the best sprinter of the tour, by edging past local hero Nathan Clarke to win the Country Club Sprint Ace. Tillman was also involved in an incident with New Zealand's Matthew Yates, where the latter threw his water bottle at the American. Yates was ultimately disqualified from the tour and fined for using indecent language. Other penalties issued have seen Sean Sullivan disqualified from a KOM sprint for taking pace off a truck, Sid Taberlay for failing to keep a straight line and Jeremy Yates for abusive language. The ITT at Launceston will start at 11 a.m.
