Aitken nabs another; Roberts into the lead

South Australian Luke Roberts moved into the lead of the Skilled Tour of Tasmania after placing second in stage 4 from Burnie to Latrobe, which was won by Sydney Gold Medal Olympian Brett Aitken - his second win of the week and third since the Tour of Tasmania was revamped by Victorian cycling promoter John Trevorrow in 1996. Aitken and David McKenzie now hold the record of three stage wins, while Cadel Evans, Neil Stephens and Harm Jansen have each recorded two stage wins.

Aitken said of his win, "I didn't think 85 km could be so tough."

However the pressure was on from start to finish and there was no respite for any "slackers" in the peloton. "I think everyone was serious out there, we all want to grab a stage win if we can," Aitken added.

Aitken however cannot win the tour, as he suffered a fall in Stage 1 and is more than 5 minutes behind Roberts. Roberts has scored second placings in three of the five stages and was fifth from St Helens to Launceston on Thursday.
