This year marks the 36th edition of the Six Days in Bremen, held in the "Stadhalle Bremen". Commencing on January 13, just two days after the finish of the Berlin Six, it is the second last six-day race of the 1999/2000 calendar.

The field is somewhat smaller than that for Berlin: 12 teams will start which should make life easier during the changeovers. Spanish world champions, Juan Llaneras and Isaac Galvez will once again be paired, however they are not expected to be amongst the front runners after their 11th placing in Berlin. Obvious favourites will be Berlin winner, Silvio Martinello (Ita) who will ride with Andreas Kappes (Ger). Also the Swiss duo of Risi and Betschart seemed to be showing flashes of form in Berlin.

Australian Scott McGrory and Dane Jimmi Madsen should be at the top, provided McGrory has recovered from his stomach troubles during Berlin. The other winner at Berlin, Marco Villa, will ride Bremen with veteran, Adriano Baffi and has to be considered a chance. Finally, theBelgian-German combination of Matthew Gilmore and Olaf Pollack (second in Berlin) may pull something special out of the bag.
