There were absolutely no surprises in the Best Female Road Rider of the Year, with Welsh prodigy Nicole Cooke sweeping the category with 407 votes, which represents a proportion of 43.3 percent. As can do so effectively in races, Cooke put a lot of daylight between herself and second place, which was taken by Canadian Genevieve Jeanson. Third place went to Sweden's Susanne Ljungskog, who had another excellent season to finish World Champion and world number one.

Nicole Cooke's biggest achievement this year was winning three World Cup races, which easily netted her the overall classification. She also won the British Championship, the women's T-Mobile International and finished 3rd in the World Championships. Not bad for a second year pro...
