Hartley overcomes

Cold (11 C) and windy conditions greeted riders for the Darwin Club Championships which were held at beautiful Litchfield Park, 100km from Darwin. Paul Maher nearly caused the upset of the season with a tactical move into the A Grade. However, the Fat Lady had other ideas and Paul managed a good third place , well within the time limit. Alistair Hartley, even after breaking a chain managed another bike and rode like the wind to take gold. Chris Chatto came in second.

In the B grade Northern Territory Champion Dwayne Thompson and Craig McDonald broke away from the field at the start of the Ida Creek Jump. McDonald managed to keep out the NT champ taking Gold with Thompson riding in for a second placing. Paul Bubb developed a second pair of legs taking out the bronze.

Peter Strong continues his run as the top C grade rider in the Northern Territory. Peter rode strong and hard against the wind. Young Champion Jamie Miller rode well to finish in the silver position with Chris Harbidge taking the bronze.

A special mention to all the officials and helpers on the day. Like most clubs we some times struggle a bit to get help, thankyou.
