San Diego Velodrome Association Tuesday Night Racing

San Diego, September 10, 2002

San Diego Velodrome 70's Night Season Finale

The Tuesday Night Racing crew ended its summer series with a blast. The 70's theme was welcomed with leopard print jerseys, short shorts and wool. And the racing was as fun and exciting as usual.

The Juniors saw the return of Tori Wilson who was recovering from her crash at Junior Nationals last month. She gave the boys the challenge they needed. The usual suspects were racing in the C category, but the results have changed slightly. Rook Campbell, a rookie to the track just 3 weeks ago, but coached by Eddie B., was making waves last night. Her ability to contest almost every sprint in the 8-lap snowball showed that she will be a regular competitor in the years to come.

The B category saw the Traveling Dustin and Dustin Show return to San Diego. Dustin Sullivan and Dustin Whitson dominated by winning each race and generously allowed a few of the other racers to fight it out for the scraps. Their Crown City Cycle fans were ravenous at the boards energizing the crowd each and every lap.

The star studded A field showcased the talents of Becky Quinn, coming off her Elite Nationals Win in T-town; Josiah Ng, preparing for the Asian Games, and Eric Hollenbeck just looking to finish the night and enjoy a cold beverage.

The San Diego Velodrome will be hosting the California Keirin Cup and 10-Mile Championships on Saturday the 14th. The race will attract competitors from all over Southern California. For more information visit the San Diego Velodrome website at www.velodromes.org.
