Lea and Wamsley Repeat Win in Second of Madison Series

International Track Cycling resumed tonight after a steady rain forced postponement for last week's races. Tonight marked the season's first appearance of 2000 Olympic Sprint Gold Medalist Marty 'The Blade' Nothstein at his home track as Marty's road race and criterium schedule allowed him to return home for Friday night racing. Marty marked his return by winning the Men's one mile final and , taking second to Australia's Jeff Hopkins in the Men's Miss and out, and, along with teammate Ryan Oelkers, took a third place in the Bentley Graphic Communications 50-lap Madison Race.

The Madison was stolen by the team of Bobby Lea and Kyle Wamsley. Wamsley, 22 and Lea, 18, made an early attack that the field failed to cover. Wamsley and Lea pounded for over 15 laps before lapping the field. This gave them points for the Lap 10 and Lap 20 Sprints and cash from several primes, including a prime for being first to lap the field.

Becky Conzelman showed again that she's adapted to the track by winning the women's Unknown Distance race and Women's Miss and Out race while finishing second to New Zealand's Fiona Carswell in the Women's Kilo.

Tonight's card also included the season's first appearance by the Pee-Wee Pedalers. Pee Wee Pedalers, sponsored by Air Products and Chemicals, Inc., is a program for 5-8 year olds that teaches riders cycling basics and safety. Graduation from the program means a chance to ride in front of the crowd for several laps on Trexlertown's Concrete Crater.
