American Velodrome Challenge comes back bigger to San Jose

This year's American Velodrome Challenge brings even more excitement and speed with full fields for the races. Bay Area's hometown hero Ben Jacques-Maynes leads a star studded field for the John Peckham Memorial Race with $1000 going to the winner, making it the richest points race in USA.

In the sprints field, 2008 Olympians 2008 Adam Duvendeck and Giddeon Massie will be battling for the top honors with several sprinters such as Jimmy Watkins, Eugene Chacherine, Giovanni Rey and Matias Elgart.

Shelley Olds, one of the country's best endurance track racers will be battling with Jenn Triplett, Becky Lang and upcoming star Karla Kingsley in the Elite female races.

During the American Velodrome Challenge, Mike's Hard Lemonade and Testarossa wine will be available to all fans and riders for the whole weekend.

Who to watch

Adam Duvendeck - The silent assassin from Long Beach is the fastest USA sprinter and has been battling with the world's best sprinters during the winter. Declared himself ready to break the 200 meters record of 10.88 (41 mph average) and Flying Lap record of 18.88 (40 mph average)

Giddeon Massie - 2004 Olympian is also a member of the 2008 Olympics Team Sprint. Have always been close to the top of all sprint events

Daniel Holloway - One of the fastest and best juniors ever to come out of Bay Area. Is now affiliated with the powerful Slipstream Team's U-23 team. Routinely attacks the fields whenever he feels like it. Clearly the favorite to win the John Peckham Memorial Points Race.

Ben Jacques-Maynes - Last year's Points Race winner, thought about John Peckham who was a friend of his during the race and ran away from the field. Will return to battle for the $1000 first prize. One of the best Endurance track racers in the country.

Shelley Olds - one of the country's best female track racers. Ran away from the scratch field last year including Jennie Reed to win the overall honors.
