With the six day calendar expanding this year, the death of Isaac Galvez and injuries to Matthew Gilmore, Robert Slippens, Lars Teutenberg and others, the cast of riders was hard to fill for the 43rd Bremen six day. The pairs get shuffled as former T-mobile teammates Erik Zabel and Olaf Pollack take to the boards along with some of the regulars in the 6-tage scene. One pair that came together due to an injured partner has found great success - Iljo Keisse and Robert Bartko, the winners of the Rotterdam six day.

The two-time Olympic and three-time world champion Bartko found a quick and powerful partner in the young Belgian, but the pair may have a difficult time repeating their performance of just days ago against those with fresher legs. Erik Zabel, who has sat out the last three sixes due to obligations with his Milram team, will once again join up with Bruno Risi. The pair have won in both Dortmund and Munich already this year, and will be the favorites for the win. For the rest of the riders, they will only have to hope that the one day of recovery since Rotterdam will be sufficient for a very demanding Bremen program.
