Results and Reports for the USAPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to cyclingnews Ed Steffani Memorial/San Jose Gran PrixHellyer Park Velodrome, San Jose, CA, Sunday June 20, 2004The Hellyer Park Velodrome would not exist had it not been for Ed Steffani. Not only did he design it, but he also was one of a small group with political pull who were able to get it built. Ed also either designed, or contributed to the designs of most of the velodromes in the United States. For many years, he promoted races and other programs here, including the Saturday sessions. Professionally, he was County Engineer for Santa Clara County for many years. After Ed passed away a few years ago, the name of this race was changed to honor him, simply because he liked the race and made a point to attend it every year.
