Wiggins and Gilmore fight back

With two nights remaining of the Ghent Six, local favourites Bradley Wiggins and Matthew Gilmore have staged a comeback, moving themselves up to third position at the end of night 4, behind leaders Robert Slippens/Danny Stam and second placed Scott McGrory/Robert Sassone, who also had a solid fourth night. There are still two teams (Kappes/Beikirch and Risi/Betschart) within a lap of the three leading pairs, but they have fallen back on the points compared to the rest.

The first madison of the night saw Gilmore/Wiggins win ahead of McGrory/Sassone, with all other teams losing at least a lap. Slippens/Stam fought back to take the second madison, but all five leading teams finished on the same lap in this one. Throughout the night, the consistent points scoring of Wiggins/Gilmore and McGrory/Sassone saw them steadily close the gap to the Dutch duo, who have been on top since night two. Now just 14 points separate the top three places with two nights left.

In the U23 Six Days of the Future, no-one is seemingly able to unseat the Danish combination of Michael Larsen/Michael Berling, who have only amassed 37 points but are one lap in front of John Van Den Abeele/Kenny De Ketele (82 points) and Ingmar De Poortere/Steve Schets (79 points).
