Slippens/Stam looking strong

The dynamic Dutch duo of Robert Slippens and Danny Stam is looking stronger as each night of the Ghent Six unfolds. The pair finished night 3 in the lead with a total of 170 points, well clear of second placed Andreas Kappes/Andreas Beikirch (138 points) and third placed Bruno Risi/Kurt Betschart (132 points). There are however three more teams 1 lap down but well within striking distance: Marvulli/Aeschbach (205 points), McGrory/Sassone (180 points) and local favourites Gilmore/Wiggins (166 points), setting things up for an exciting second half of the Ghent Six.
Stam and Slippens performed best in the madisons, finishing second behind Kappes/Beikirch in the second madison, and more importantly putting a lap into the rest of the field. Swiss pair Marvulli and Aeschbach scored the most points on the night, but did lose an extra lap to the leaders, and only finished up in fourth place courtesy of a bonus lap for reaching 200 points. They will have to work particularly hard to stay in contention.
In the U23 Six Days of the Future, Danish duo Michael Larsen/Michael Berling continue to hold their one lap advantage over the rest of the field, with John Van Den Abeele/Kenny De Ketele in second place on 68 points and Ingmar De Poortere/Steve Schets in third on 58 points.
