Record breaking day in Rio

By Robinson Nuñez

The Chilean track pursuit team won the gold medal after beating Colombia in the spectacular new velodrome which was especially built for this Pan American Games in Rio. Two Pan American Games records were broken in the process: first by Colombia in the qualifying rounds with 4:12.836. In the finals, the Chilean team bested this short-lived record with a time of 4:11.653, beating Colombia and their final time of 4:12.330. In the race for bronze, Venezuela won against Argentina with 4:16.838. It is worthy to note that the velodrome is at sea level.
