Interbike came of age in 2002, marking the 21st anniversary of North America's (and some would say the world's) biggest and most comprehensive bicycle trade show.

With over 20,000 registrations on the first day of the trade-only event, 2002's show was considered a major success, with seminars, technical clinics, press conferences and the industry awards night as well as the thousands of new and improved products from over 1,000 companies.

Cyclingnews was there with our photographers and reporters, covering all aspects of the show, from the latest new widgets to who will be riding what bike next year.

The coverage of Interbike concentrates on the North American manufacturers, given that the previous coverage of Eurobike and EICMA focused on the European manufacturers.

Interbike kicked off on Saturday, October 5, with 'demo day', where the manufacturers offered their 2003 road and mountain bikes for testing on road and trails, with the convention starting the following day and running until Tuesday. The exhibition was held over three days (one day less than 2001), and the jury was still out as to whether this was preferable to the longer format.
