The Sunday morning race once again proved to be very popular, with a large group of riders fiercely contesting all grades. In the A and B grade combined event, University of Queensland rider Michael O'Donoghue continued his strong form at the Carole Park circuit, skipping clear to take first place in the bunch sprint. Damien Peall, of the Ipswich Club rode strongly to finish in second, with Mark Lafferty of NRG rounding out the top places. Special mention must go to Ipswich rider Reece Wells, who continues to improve, finishing in the top ten places in only his third A grade race. The C grade race was a hard fought affair, with constant attacks chased and shut down by Ipswich riders Tony Bolter, John Smith and Chris Donald. The good work of these riders frustrated the few competitors that were prepared to attack. The sprint finish was won by 17 year old Coby Parnel, of Cairns, showing good speed to finish ahead of Trevor Gordon of NRG. Third place was taken by the fast finishing and ever reliable John Smith, of the Ipswich Club. The last race on the Ipswich Amateur Cycling Club's summer criterion calendar will be held at Carole Park on the 23rd of March at 7am. The Club will then move onto to its road season at Middle Road on a date to be advised.
