Jamie Seip was the fastest rider on the course today, taking out A Grade from U 19 CATS rider Brad Payne and John Guy in a sprint finish. With three to go John Kane launched an attack which took him 150 metres clear, a lead which he was still holding at the bell. However he was quickly collared when the bunch got serious in the last half lap, with Seip using his superior speed to make it two wins from his last two Burleigh starts. Paul Carrigan, having his first start for the year, showed that he hasn't lost his sprinting legs by taking out B Grade, another first timer, visiting USA rider Paul Martin won the bunch sprint in C Grade, while Murwillumbah's Jeff Finnigen was the fastest D Grader on the course. In E Grade Sean Evangelista proved too strong for Lee Hall. The first CATS kermesse for the year will be held on Sunday May 19 at Darlington Park, Ormeau.
