Results and Reports for April 6-7, 2002AustraliaPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to cyclingnews NSW Southern Division Road Cycling ChampionshipsBreadalbane , April 7, 2002Illawarra Cycling Club report CaesarÕs Illawarra club was well represented with thirty three entries at the championships held at Breadalbane last Sunday. After the morning clouds lifted the conditions were quite good with only a moderate North Westerly blowing. The Club was also well represented on the victory dais. Teegan Makowski won the womenÕs under 19 gold medal. After being the dominant rider in the MasterÕs C grade race unfortunately Dave Morris finished out of the placings, but Scott Turnbull showed a clean set of wheels in taking out the sprint and gold medal. Terry Welsh took out the bronze medal after riding a good race. One of the best sprint finishes on the day was in the MasterÕs A grade where Marcus Arnold just held off Richard Lorenc for the silver and bronze. MasterÕs B grade was a good example of team work when Peter Evans got away with a rider from another Club Dennis Fitzgerald, Lionel Covington, Mick Kejda, Jeff Gray and Joe Pereira all rode on the front to discourage any chasers. The tactics worked and Evans rode very strongly to take a well-deserved silver medal. Kejda won the bunch sprint for bronze. Ben Lohse instigated the decisive break in the menÕs B grade race and was rewarded by taking out the bronze medal.
