Southland Times sets fastest time

The strong Southland Times combination of Scott Guyton, John Lieswyn, Glen Mitchell, Greg Henderson and Tim Gudsell took out ten seconds on their nearest rivals in the opening stage of the PowerNet Tour of Southland today, a 8.3km team time trial at Invercargill.
The team were two seconds up on Zookeepers Café members Hayden Roulston, Heath Blackgrove, Marc Ryan, Craig Thomson and Gordon McCauley at the halfway point and grabbed another eight seconds on the second lap of the Queens Park circuit. The Rabobank team finished equal third with Meadow Fresh, 1 minute 18 seconds behind the stage-winning team.
The win sets the Southland Times team up in a good position for the tough afternoon stage, a 78.3km ride finishing at the top of the tortuous Bluff Hill.
