Stage 7 - Saturday July 13: Bagnoles De l'Orne - Avranches, 176 km

By Tim Maloney, European editor

More small departmental roads, more bocage and more breaks after the 1pm stage start, as Le Tour loops around the base of the Cotentin Peninsula in lower Normandy, to finish in the town of Avranches, within sight of le Mont Saint-Michel. Although General George Patton's tanks penetrated German lines here almost 60 years ago, his American counterparts in the peloton will try and keep quiet for their own impending battles in the mountains.
