Guildford town centre criteriums

Guildford, July 5, 2006

The rain kept away from the cobbles of Guildford and a thrilling night of racing was experienced last night at the Guildford Town Centre Races promoted by Charlotteville Cycling Club.

Warrick Spence (London Dynamo) outsprinted Kristian House (Recycling) to take the win in the main race, a round of the British Cycling Elite Circuit Race Series, for the second year in a row. Spence and House were dominant throughout and took off from the rest of the field after a prime in the first five minutes of the race and then continued to build on their gap eventually lapping the whole field. Mariusz Weisiak (Team Nippo) completed the podium just ahead of Malcolm Elliott (Plowman Craven RT).

The 3/J race was won by Lee Smith (www.agiskoviner.com) who along with Richard Prebble (Pinarello RT), early race leader Walter Sybrandy (Hounslow & District Wheelers) and Ben Low (Twickenham) broke away from the main field and worked well together to hold off any challenges. Smith was particularly delighted to win the race that he attended for many years with his father Glenn being a lifelong member of the promoting club Charlotteville CC.

The youth race was dominated from start to finish by Toby Meadows (Beyond Mountain Bikes) who looked untroubled through the race and showed great strength which will no doubt bring him many more wins as he moves up the age categories and rankings in the coming years.
