Well, given the heat & hazy conditions we still had a good turnout of riders. In all 79 riders braved the conditions.
Still this heat didn't hinder the riders in their efforts to keep the racing hard & honest. A Parramatta Clean sweep in A Grade. A pulled foot in the sprint left Trent Butler out of the placings tonight. This serves as a reminder to all riders to regularly check your cleats & pedals for wear. It is always better to be safe then sorry. If not for yourself but for you fellow riders.
Again the tandem pairing of Ben Demery & Shaun Hopkins kept the pace high in B Grade, getting away with a group in the 1st lap, with only Walter Machado lasting to the finish & taking a fine win. There were several attempts from riders in the bunch to get across, but that headwind up the dragstrip was quite testing.

Riders don't forget, this Sunday is the Anthony Rappo Memorial Criterium, held at the Dragway. Starting at 10.30am sharp for C, D & E Grade, followed at 11.30am by the Junior Handicap. Then the big boys come out to play at 12.00pm A & B Grade. We will see A Grade compete over a minimum 1 hour + 2 laps. Details on our website.

There will be raffles on the day, for many wonderful prizes, including a mountain bike. Last night Dave Walton put up a pair of Speedplay pedals for the raffle also. So if you would like to donate for the raffle or you may want to part with some money for sprint priems to make the racing a bit more entertaining, see Brad or Greg on the day or email info@marconicyclingclub.com
If you can't get out to race, get on out & support you fellow cyclists. This is also part of the Blacktown City Games, so there will be certificates for all riders & medals for the place getters as well.
