Silveri out muscles Morris

Daniel Silveri took another steep on his steady curve of improvement last weekend when he out sprinted Tim Morris in the 45km A grade scratch race. Peter Jones rounded out the top three.

In the A grade race there was a few half hearted attempts by riders at getting a way so in the end the race was decided by a flat out drag race to the finish line.

B grade race was a bit more animated due to the efforts of Hans Batteard, Keith Bennett, Daniel Daly, Andrew Stewart, Dave Russel and Dean Marcinkowski. But in the end, due to every move being chased down, it came down to a bunch sprint.

Daly fresh from several good results looked the goods but Batteard led out from a long way out. Bennett made his move in the last 100m but it was Stewart who proved the strongest. As they crossed the line it was Stewart, Daly and Bennett.

In the C grade race Paul Kaye showed his intention of not wanting the race being decided by a sprint finish by attacking on the rise up to Hooker hill on the third lap. As soon as he was brought back to the bunch there was a counter attack by Dean Kelly and Neil Midgley.

There was a lack of cohesion by the chasers and the gap opened up. Roger Phillips tried to close the gap but to no avail. The two shared the work well together and they ended up putting 3:19minutes into the chasers. Kelly edged Midgley out for the win with Kaye finishing the best of the rest for third.

Vince O'Dwyer won a good sprint from Megan Wilkie and Stephen Phillips to win the D grade race.

There is no local race next weekend. The final race os the Interclub series is being held at Breadalbane. Tony Burke has an unassailable lead in the overall competition but the Club competition is still wide open.
