Josh Marden achieved a major milestone in his short cycling career, winning the 36km A-Grade event at Heffron Park on Saturday 24 April 2004. Marden's joined the Randwick Botany Cycling Club in January 2004 and won his first D-Grade race in February. He quickly progressed through C and B Grades, scoring wins along the way. Marden's beat David Stewart (Eastern Suburbs) and David Rae (Eastern Suburbs).

In junior racing, Randwick Botany Cycling Club welcomed Southern Cross Cycling Club junior riders to compete in 4 exciting events, including an Italian pursuit team event. Five teams of five riders lined up for a five-lap race. The slowest rider was on the front and the strongest at the back of the team. At the end of each lap the front rider heals off until only one rider remains. The winning team members were Dale Skribins, Tirian McManus, Bede Kelly and Leah Guillan (Southern Cross).
