Spurgeon beats Marden - again

By Tony Horneman

Josh Marden again narrowly missed taking out the 36km A-Grade race at Heffron Park on Saturday 3 April 2004. Like last week, Marden was beaten by the King of Heffron Park - Anthony Spurgeon (Caravello). Third place went to Matthew Lucas.

Good to see Ross Mackay (Randwick Botany) return to the podium to score second place behind Sam Carrol. Third and fourth places went to Daniel Vanolini (Steam/Eastern Suburbs) and Richard Dodds (Sydney) respectively.

Arthur Driver (Penrith Panthers) and Adam Sheppard (Sydney) were the stars of C-Grade with a breakaway early in the race. Driver and Sheppard fought out a sprint for first and second place with Andrew Hall (Randwick Botany) third.

Junior riders concentrated on team riding skills, to improve confidence riding in bunches.

Randwick Botany Cycling Club Saturday racing will take a break over the Easter Long Weekend. Racing returns on Saturday 17 April, Juniors 12.45pm, D and E Grade 2.00pm and A, B and C Grades at 3.00pm.
