Tim Hicks of Devonport scored a major victory. On Sunday at Forth, the NVCC held the Hillross Financial Devonport major veteran cycling race. The race, over 54 kilometres, attracted almost 50 starters on a tough windy course. Tim Hicks and co-marker Peter Fraser broke away from a large bunch with 20 km.to go and defied the hard working bunch to catch them. Hicks won in a close sprint with the large field coming home hard at 300 metres behind.
Entries close next weekend for NVCC major race - 60km graded race, Longford 10am, Sun 28 September. Longford-Campbell Town to be held on 12 October. This year's event will be sponsored by Doherty Hotels and promises to be a great race.
