Results and Reports from the USAPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to cyclingnews GS CiaoTT series, Boulder, CO, July 5, 2006Blake Caldwell blazes to BoulderBy Robert Hicken The final kick in the Lyons-Boulder, CO time trial series has ended in style. Many of the top local riders came out to see if they could match or beat the time set by Chris Baldwin (Toyota-United) of 22:17. TIAA-Cref showed up in good form as last week's winner, Blake Caldwell, pulled off a blistering performance of 23:58, this was excellent considering the head and cross winds that were fighting the riders all the way to the line. Tom Zirbel looked good over the course but came up a little short to finish in 24:47, still a good showing and giving him second for the day. Third place was slotted in by Timmy Duggan (TIAA-Cref) at 24:58, coming back from an early season crash descending from Peak to Peak highway that had taken him out right before the Tour of Georgia. Blake Caldwell has shown that he is a racer for the future, with 12 national junior titles under his belt, it seems that now he has the form and confidence to do the same at the senior level. Blake's father, who is also a very accomplished time trialist, has obviously passed on his skills as well as some good genetics to help this rider reach that level. Of note from last week was Kimberly Baldwin's (T-Mobile) fine performance of 28:25 as she attempted to get the women's record and have the top marks be a family affair. Her husband Chris Balwin was cheering her all the way to the line and she just missed out of the top time by a few seconds which may have been due to the 20mph crosswinds, but she will get another chance next season to improve on her score. All in all it was an excellent series that was run by the GS Ciao cycling team and Clark Sheehan. Special thanks should be given to Clark, Chad Moore and Andy Rosen for all of the effort they put into getting this race series off the ground and having it run without a hitch.
