Results and Reports from the USAPromoters wishing to submit results should send them to cyclingnews North Jersey Cycling ClassicPark Ridge, NJ, Sunday, July 16, 2006The 21st Annual $7,000 Pro-Am North Jersey Cycling Classic was held in beautiful suburban Park Ridge, NJ on Sunday July 16th, 2006. The weather was 90 degrees with an interesting and enjoyable breeze. This is a short 20 mile race accented by 25 delicious rips up a 17 percent kicker that can leave you feeling less than cocky well into the evening. Team Alliance Environmental’s J-me Carney rode 2nd and 3rd wheel for the first few laps and soon found himself in a 3 man group with Roger Aspholm (Westwood Velo) and Nick Bax (Hot Tubes) – the 16 year old Junior phenom who just got done soloing to the win the last 5 laps of the 10 lap junior race immediately prior to the Men’s Pro-Am. The next lap, Kyle Wamsley (Colavita) drove across to the move with Todd Henricksen (VMG) and Gavriel Epstein (GS Mengoni). Finding they had won the day, the move eventually busted up on a counter attack at 3 to go that dropped Wamsley, Aspholm and Epstein. However, Wamsley was able to reintegrate in the last turn with 150 meters to go and took 2nd to J-me Carney who won by 10 lengths. Due to a shattered and lapped field of individuals and groups that were coming and going forward and backward or both, some of the “lesser” although still handsomely paying places were subject to extensive and lengthy debate.
