Blizzard Bike ClubFort St. John, BC March 12, 2006Robin Baillie out-sprinted Pat Ferris to win the Baldonnel Roubaix (Pron: ROO-bay), Sunday, and take the lead in the series. Their time was 46:24 minutes for the 1 lap, 23 km distance. Bob Andrews was third at 51:59. Eight riders came out under -12C temperatures and an annoying cold wind to ride a shortened single lap. Robin Baillie forced the pace with Pat Ferris and Bob Andrews, as soon as the group started on the gravel section. Bob dropped soon after leaving the remaining duo to continue on. Baillie easily won the sprint from Ferris, with a time of 46:24. Bob Andrews dropped Gary Hilderman on the final hill to get third at 51:59. Gary Hilderman had 52:25 for 4th, Barb Polehoykie survived a crash to get 5th at 55:17, Dean Lowry 55:54 for 6th, Rod Lewis 57:12 and Kevin Cooper 61:58. The Baldonnel Roubaix will be followed by the Frozen John Hill next Sunday. This is the toughest of the three with a very steep slippery climb in the middle of the circuit. Robin Baillie is in the lead for the series. Pat Ferris and Bob Andrews are sitting in second and third place. Race time is at 2:00 pm from the bottom of the ‘Frozen John Hill, at the railroad tracks on the West Bypass road. Check www.ferrisfastcycles.com for more information.
