US Hugh Moran took the second position, followed by Canadas Erik Lyman (Gatineau, QC) in third. 164 cyclists took the start of this mythical competition the oldest and longest in North America from Montreal today. All in all, the 252 K race course was relatively flat and slightly longer or equal to a Tour de France stage. Riders said that the race was more difficult than last years edition, because of side wind. "We are very satisfied with the organization of the event," said Louis Garneau Classic spokesperson Marie-Claude Boucher, Communication Manager for Louis Garneau Sports. "The race went very smoothly with no incident, and the participation level increased as we offered two major races to all categories of riders, the Master B and Junior cyclists riding yesterday at the Québec-Trois-Rivières Challenge. We had participants from the USA and Europe as well, and were happy that many of the Louis Garneau-sponsored athletes performed so well." Québec Citys David Veilleux (Garneau Optik), took ninth place, which is excellent for a first year as a senior rider and first participation in such a long race.
