Peel Cycling Club
Club Hill Climb Championship – Selkirk Road, Serpentine, October 29, 2006
The Peel Cycling Club completed its winter program for 2006 with the Club Hill Climb Championships. The one-kilometre climb proved a daunting task for several club members. In the wrap up, Phil Diesels great effort got him King of the Mountain, while Raymond Loly found form to finish second, Steve Ware was a further second back to claim third and Steve Dodd fourth.
The Club wound up the mornings event with a Barbecue and awards for the winter series. The Club Road Racing Champion for 2006 went to Dave Berglund. The premier grade rider has been in sensational form this season and looks set to take it into the summer series. Phil Diesel was a consistent performer to finish second ahead of Matt Gibbons third.
In another plus for the Peel Club, the Back to Mundijong Cycling Gala Day at the Sports ground in Cockram Street, will see Criterium Racing return to the town commencing at 10am on Sunday November 5.
