Seventeen riders contested the handicap event. Wayne Flint, Rob Doria, John Burgess, Ian Gallagher were the surviving leaders into the last kilometres. With just 500m to race this group was caught by Jeff Hibberd, Shane Edwards, Ian Baker and Bret Bender. This combined back mark group had chased hard, making up 2 minutes over the final 15km. Evergreen senior rider, Hibberd, easily held out his challengers to record a first and fastest time win. Shane Edwards was second with Ian Baker from the 5min mark, 3rd. Outmarker, Ian Gallagher was 4th closely followed by Wayne Flint and Rob Doria. Alan Adams and Rhyse Melville rode strongly before puncturing. Hibberd’s time for the 59km was 1hr 34min. Next Sat (3/6) 10 BSCC riders will contest the Preston Mountain Classic, an open event which starts at Broadford at 9:30am.Silas Fisher will contest the Ararat (under 17) Junior Tour.
