On Sunday Dadson, competing in his eighth Longford-Campbell Town race scored a very popular victory. The race, conducted by the Northern Veterans Cycling Club and sponsored by Calvary Health Care, attracted almost 60 starters competing for over $1000 in prizemoney. Held in fine conditions, Dadson and fellow comarker Gary Woodfall, a former top tennis player, made the most of their handicap to hold off the large field to score a narrow win. Julian Clayton put in a fine sprint to take out third place. Peter Gleeson continued his good form to take out fastest time from Hobart rider Dylan Forbes. In a well handicapped race there was less than two minutes covering the majority of the field. Gleeson recorded 1 hour 32 minutes for the 65km, which was an excellent time for the undulating course. The unlucky rider of the race was Wally Barrett, who had the misfortune to fall on a bridge when with the leading bunch. Next Sunday racing will be at Bishopsbourne starting at 10am entries close at 9.45am duty members are Nigel Davies and Lynn Faulkner.
